Mr. Rattner Bio

David Rattner is a well-experienced band director. He has served as director of elementary, middle, and high school groups in concert bands, wind ensembles, chamber groups, and jazz ensembles of varying sizes. Currently, Mr. Rattner is the director of the Falcon Jazz Ensemble and the Overture Band at Monroe Township Middle School.
Mr. Rattner graduated from the Mason Gross School of the Arts in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and completed his Masters degree at Boise State University. He has been teaching music to enthusiastic musicians since high school.
Mr. Rattner began his professional career teaching at the Carteret Middle School in June 2004. He later transferred to Carteret High School, where he taught music until coming to Monroe in 2008.
Mr. Rattner is also a performing musician. He has played in community theater orchestras, ska bands, jazz combos, and rock groups throughout his life. He can be heard on the Back Up Jackson album “Back Up Jackson Conquers the World”.
Rattner and his wife Kate, both active community volunteers, met while playing trombones in the Rutgers marching band. Monroe residents for ten years, the Rattners are the proud parents of Samantha, Joseph, and Benjamin.
