CJMEA Regions(Concert Band)
CJMEA is also known as Region II of the New Jersey Music Educators Association (NJMEA) and consists of the following counties: Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset and Union. Membership is open to all music teachers who are a member of MENC and teach in Region II. One of the objectives of this non-profit organization is to assist music teachers to raise the caliber of music performance and the quality of music education in their schools.
Regions Auditions are held in late-January/early-February. Every student in 7th and 8th grades is eligible to audition. The audition process is valuable in preparing students for future auditions and interviews. Each student is expected to prepare a solo from the list below, as well as a series of scales and perform a sight reading exercise. Monroe has traditionally sent many students to participate in the Regions festival. Mr. Rattner is able to supply a copy of the solo to help preparation.
