Chamber Ensembles
Chamber ensembles are small groups of like instruments that will rehearse advanced music to enhance student musicality. These groups will rehearse with Mr. Rattner on selected B days(according the high school schedule). These rehearsals will take place during the normal pull out band lesson periods, but will supplement the full group lessons. Thus, students taking part in chamber ensembles will miss two classes a week, rather than one. The schedule will be organizedto minimize classes missed consecutively.
Small ensembles give students an incredible opportunity to learn independence of line, responsibility for their part, and dramatically develop their musicality. Each student will be playing an individual musical part. This contrasts a concert band setting where there are multiple students on each part. This opportunity will magnify the awareness of style, intonation, form, music theory, pitch, history and countless other musical and non-musical concepts.
